When I'm not exploring the realms of the fantastical, I'm floating up in space.
It's not as common a theme for me, but it's still something I come back to every now and then. I think space is just one of those things that peaks everyone's interest to some degree.
The idea of space gives me that feeling of looking out over the ocean in the late evening. I'm sure to many the vastness is intimidating or scary, but for me it's a sight I sought out often in my moments of overwhelming anxiety. Looking out at something that goes on forever makes me feel so incredibly small which is an oddly comforting reminder when your brain is telling you how incredibly massive all your problems are.
Capturing that feeling is definitely not my goal with this piece but that general idea of freedom and endless possibly when I think of space definitely takes over whenever I feature it in my art. In every space-y illustration I can think of creating I've just thrown thought, meaning and logic to the wind and created whatever aesthetic comes to mind during the process. This, for example, was mostly just an excuse to create some wacky sci-fi fashion and use some graphic colours and textures.
Designed in Australia, this artwork is printed on a soft woven canvas. It hangs effortlessly by wooden hangers that snap together with ease using our integrated magnets. Sounds good hey?
